What is the difference between a wax and a polish?

In theory, a wax contains wax which stays on your car to protect your paintwork, and a polish contains abrasives which removes a tiny amount of dead and oxidized paint. In practice things might not be quite as simple as this because there are many products that can do both at once. And there is also the problem that the marketing guys can call a product anything they want and frequently do! more »

How do I clean my mats? Will they go in the washing machine?

People do ask us this question — but it is not a good idea to put mats in the washing machine. The mats may stand up to it, but your washing machine may not! As your washing machine costs hundreds of pounds, and a set of mats costs £5-£25, it’s better to buy a new set than risk ruining your washing machine! more »

How do I get back the new-car-smell?

That new car smell is caused by the solvents evaporating from new plastics. I have actually been told by a few people that this smell is actually bad for you because of course you are breathing in the solvents! more »
