How do I clean Alacantara?

Alacantara is a synthetic Suede, sometimes called Super-Suede… it can be a little difficult to handle, it can be delicate, we deal with it the same way we would deal with Suede.
There are two ways to deal with it, use the safest method first, which is to get a damp microfibre cloth and gently wipe it over, turning the cloth every now and again.
The other method is to use dry cleaning spotting fluid. This is a fairly weak solvent which totally evaporates in a short space of time, so you can blast away with it at areas that have become greasy, it will disolve oily marks before disapearing. I have a pair of desert boot which are tan suede (the real thing) and every summer of clean them with dry cleaning fluid… the only thing that it doesn’t fix is areas of wear. Suede and Alacantra wear fairly easily and are quite delicate, so it is important not to rub too hard when cleaning.
